My Technology

My Technology I would like to talk about is digital camcorders. Where they are what is considered a good camera and what is considered bad. I would talk about my experience with them, and what I find useful in a camera. I also would write about what other people think of camcorders out there. I will also mention how online groups help people get what they want out of the cheaper cameras like hv20.com.

I also might just write about guitar effects. Like where they are at, where they are going, and where they were. I would talk about what I own and what I like. I would also talk about the diffrent bands and if they are using new Technology or old "classic" technology. I will even talk about how computers have changed guitar effects by the way they record now.

I will write about one of these 2 topics...

Technology

Some times I wish I was a digital immigrant. That way I could say I use my time to play guitar and not mess around with anything else like computers TV ext. However, I think that I am a digital native and I have been since the day I decided to build my first computer back when I was in high school. I figured it would be cheaper to build one then buy one. Ever since I built that computer I have been on the edge of technology and find myself buy the newest and latest things just to be on top. Wether it's on understanding how technology works "circuit boards ext,"or knowing HTML, C++, CSS ext. I just want to beable to know it all I guess.

Sometimes I run into a professor who is teaching me how to be a professional film person and they do not know how to run a DVD player. It's like they make movies but have no knowledge on how to play them. It is really sad and sometimes it makes me think why am I paying to go to school to get my film Degree and the Teachers need help with the computers, DVD players, and projectors. Anyways I guess overall I sometimes don't think I am real tech savvy. Although, when I really think about it I do know more then most my friends. Lets just say this, I am typing this on my new mac book pro while my iphone is in my pocket streaming music and video from my PC at home and my 1080 24p canon camcorder is sitting on my desk right next to me and my 160 gig ipod is in my backpack. It's really sad when you think about it.

Digitech Effects

Today I am going to talk about my experience with Digitech Guitar effects. Bassicly I have always had a lot of effects. I used to have all Digitech. However, over the last 4 years of playing they all have ither stopped working or i pawned them off when they started to act funny.

The first Digitech I bought was the BP200 for the bass..
This effect lasted me until I sold
it to a used music store. The only Problem I ever had was that it had cheaply made plastic buttons to step
on. I had to take it apart a
few times to re a-line this little rubber thing that would push a button when you would step on the pedal. I would just take a small piece of paper to put under it to make it just that much longer so it pushes the button harder. Over all I would give it 4 out of 10 stars...

The next effects I bought was a bulk buy.. The local music store had a sell on there digitech effects and you could get 2 pedals for 40 bucks! So I bought a few. Digitech Grunge and Digiverb. At the time I did not know much about how the guitar signal was processed. I did not know the sound I wanted required a equalizer after the distortion to give it the tighter/thicker sound. So I went back and bought Digitech Metal Master, Death Metal, and Turbo Flange just for kicks and giggles. These pedals gave me many hours of good use. However, I played a lot. They all broke within a year.  I think the only one I got rid of before it broke was the Turbo Flange.. I just thought it was starting to act funny and I did not want to deal with it. I give these pedals 4 stars out of 10.

My Favorite Digitech Effect! I still own it today and it is one of there only metal pedals out there! It even has the same type of button that MXR uses. A nice metal clicker! Not one of those cheap plastic things you get on there cheaper pedals. This pedal is the Digitech Whammy!
This Pedal is a Great Pedal! However, again you get what you pay for. This pedal has the same quality as something you would find from MXR or Boss and for the same price. When I bought this Effect it was $200.00. I give this an 8 stars out of 10.

If you are looking to buy Digitech. If you plan on playing a lot, I would stick with the higher top end effects. If you don't play much and just want to add some flavor to your sound then Digitech is for you. However, I do think there are far cheeper effects out there like Zoom. You get what you pay for applies for those as well..

CMI

I am a part of the CMI community because it is where I go to school. CMI stands for Creative Media Institute. It is a film and animation school. I am currently going there to get my degree in film. It is a gender friendly school. However, there are far more guys who go there then girls. I do not know why. There is a lot of physical work involved for some of the classes. Maybe that has a part to play why there are more guys then girls.

First Blog

I created this blog and I did not know what to name it. I play a lot of guitar and mess with a lot of effect pedals, so i figured to call it theguitarshiznit- just blogs about what I found useful and what works for my set up on playing guitar or bass.
